I’ve done concrete work for years, and I’ve spent plenty of that time behind a jackhammer. Anybody who’s run one knows what it actually is — that thing is just hammering, over and over, nonstop, and your whole job is holding it steady while it beats the hell out of the slab underneath you. It’s not finesse, it’s just enduring it. That vibration doesn’t stay in the tool, it runs straight up through your hands and arms the whole time you’re on it, and over months and years that’s the kind of thing that leads to real nerve and circulation problems in guys who do this for a living — numbness, tingling, the whole deal. Add in the noise, the dust in your face, the weight of the thing itself, and by the end of a slab you’re wrecked. On anything bigger than a small patch you need guys trading off, because nobody’s holding that thing steady for hours straight.


And then there’s the spots where you don’t even have the option of bringing in something bigger. A skid steer with a breaker attachment will chew through a slab way faster, but it doesn’t fit through a gate or into a tight side yard. So you’re stuck doing it the hard way whether you like it or not.


That’s the part that’s actually changed for me with this machine. It’s a wheeled electric breaker — no engine, no compressor, just plugs into a regular outlet — and it works by lifting a 350 lb striker up on a chain and dropping it straight down on the concrete. You roll it into position, lift, release, let it fall. That’s it.


First thing I noticed is how easy it is to just push around. Six casters, and even though the thing’s got some weight to it, it rolls where you point it — none of that fighting a bulky tool while you’re also trying to hold your footing on broken concrete. You’re just steering it into position instead of wrestling with it.


The other thing is what it takes off my body. There’s no vibration running up my arms all day, because I’m not gripping anything that’s hammering — the machine’s doing the impact, not my hands. No fighting to keep it steady while it beats against the slab. And I still wear ear protection because it’s a jobsite and that’s just good practice, but I’m not needing it anywhere near as long as I would jackhammering — you’re not standing over continuous hammering for the whole job, just the drop and the reposition.


I can now wake up the next morning after breaking up a slab and actually feel my arms. Not feeling like I got run over is honestly the biggest difference.

I never expected something like this to exist, honestly. After using it, I don’t see myself going back to a jackhammer for this kind of work.
